EX NCC Yogdan

 The National Cadet Corps (NCC) has offered a helping hand to civilian authorities in the country’s fight against COVID-19 by extending the services of cadets under ‘Exercise NCC Yogdan’.

About Ex NCC Yogdan: 

  • NCC offers its volunteer cadets for national duty to fight COVID-19 under ‘Ex NCC Yogdan’.
  • The Defence Ministry said that about 25,000 NCC cadets are being mobilised to provide necessary local assistance.
  • It has issued guidelines for temporary employment of its cadets to augment relief efforts and functioning of various agencies involved in battling the Pandemic.

Aims and Objectives: 

 

  • It will ensure the manning of helpline or call centres.
  • It will assure distribution of relief materialsmedicinesfood and essential commodities.
  •  It will help in community assistance.
  • It will ensure data managementqueue and traffic management.

Guidelines: 

  • Cadets cannot be employed in handling Law and Order situations or for active Military duties or at hot spots.
  • Only ‘Senior Division’ Volunteer cadets above 18 years of age will be employed. 
  • They should be employed in small cohesive groups of eight to 20 under the Supervision of Permanent Instructor Staff or/and an Associate NCC Officer
  • For employment of Volunteer cadets, State Governments /District Administration has to send the requisition through State NCC Directorates.
  • Details will be coordinated at Directorate/Group Headquarters/Unit level with State government/Local Civil authority. 
  • Before the cadets are deployed for the duty, ground conditions and laid down requirements are to be ensured.

National Cadet Course: 

  • NCC, which operates under the Defence Ministry, is the largest Uniformed youth organisation of the country and has been engaged in conducting various Social service and Community development activities. The NCC cadets have helped in natural calamities like Floods and Cyclones.
  • The NCC aims at developing CharacterComradeshipDiscipline, a Secular outlook, the spirit of adventure and ideals of selfless service amongst young citizens.

                                                                           HISTORY OF NCC SONG The desirability of composing a NCC song was considered in the Circle Commanders (now called DDGs) Conference held in January 1956 and all circles were asked to send their proposals. The official song of the NCC – “Kadam Mila Ke Chal” was adopted in 1963, and registered in 1969 with the approval of the Ministry of Defence. In 1974, it was felt that the NCC song had failed to catch the imagination of the youth, and there was a need for a change.
